I witness that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the
world. He suffered and died for our sins and rose the third day. He is
resurrected. In a future day, every knee will bow and every tongue confess that
He is the Christ.33 On that day, our
concern will not be, “Do others consider me Christian?” At that time, our eyes
will be fixed on Him, and our souls will be riveted on the question, “What
thinks Christ of me?” He lives. I so testify in the name of Jesus Christ, amen
(Neil L. Anderson, “What Thinks Christ of Me?” General Conference Apr. 2012)
The message, ministry, and Atonement of Jesus Christ, our Savior, are
our essential family curriculum. No scripture characterizes our faith better
than 2 Nephi 25:26: “And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in
Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according
to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for
a remission of their sins.” (Quentin L. Cook, "In Tune with the Music of
Faith," General Conference Apr. 2012).
I would like to conclude and use a word that we
don’t frequently use among the Twelve, but it’s our official designation as
Apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ.
As an Apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ,
I bear my testimony that He lives, that He is our Savior, that His Atonement
was wrought at a terrible cost but is completely effective and has made Father
in Heaven’s plan of happiness active throughout the world. I love Him. I bear
solemn witness that He lives. I know He lives because I know Him. In the name
of Jesus Christ, amen (Richard G. Scott, “Sisters in Councils,” lds.org/broadcasts).
Do we know it as much as Christ wants us to know, that He loves us and wants to gather us around Him to nourish us, to pick us up when we fall, to forgive us and heal our hearts? Could we have a better friend/brother/father?
ReplyDeleteI cannot sufficiently express my gratitude for someone who loves me so much. I am sorry that I do not have the capacity to love Him equally in return. My love is measured by the way I use the gift He has given me. By accepting and using the power of His Atonement, He has provided a way for me to show my love to Him. He provides everything – I can’t even love Christ properly without Christ’s help!
